Welcome Back - Info for Families

Dear Kittredge Community,

As principal of the Kittredge Elementary School it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year at our beloved school. We are excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every student feel welcomed, connected and a part of our Kittredge family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow in their academic abilities by the year end. Our teachers use research- based best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement.

I acknowledge that we are starting off the year with a different set of challenges that are far from any other school experience. While COVID-19 has shifted learning practice to the hybrid model, our staff remains steadfast in our continued commitment to academic excellence, innovative practices, school safety, and providing excellent teaching and learning opportunities. We are working hard to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. Our focus continues to center around the safety of our students, staff, and families.

Your child’s elementary experience at Kittredge School will be filled with many opportunities to expand their knowledge, develop new interests, discover new skills, build new friendships, and have fun. Students will be exposed to several different approaches to learning such as listening, reading, writing, speaking, hands-on learning, and critical thinking.

The beginning of the year can be an exciting, celebratory time, but I can imagine you have many questions surrounding our reopening. More than ever, we aim to be in an effective partnership with families as we both work to make each day a positive experience for our students.

I am honored to serve as the principal of Kittredge Elementary School. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.

Sincerely,

Richard Cushing

Principal
